AERIAL ARTS

Train in the natural beauty of Okinawa’s tropical landscape. Enjoy aerial silk and aerial rope classes as well as open training opportunities with varied apparatuses on our two aerial rigs. Classes are set outdoors, amidst our stunning private villa grounds on Hamahiga island.

GROUND TRAINING

Enjoy daily yoga classes designed specifically for aerialists, offering a blend of restorative and invigorating poses to help you build strength and increase flexibility.

 

Challenge your body with handbalancing classes to help improve your strength, balance, and control.

ASH LINDSEY

Instructor: Aerial Silk | Yoga

Ash is an aerial artist, coach, and yoga instructor based in Okinawa, Japan.

 

She began her movement instruction journey in 2013 after completing her 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher training at Wilmington Yoga Center. She has since taught yoga in a variety of studios with an emphasis on breathwork and building strength through full range of motion.

 

She fell in love with aerial arts in 2016 and has since made performing and instructing her passion and profession. 

Ash taught at Santa Rosa Beach Aerial Arts in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, performed with Aerial Dragons, and choreographed/performed for Cirque Under the Stars. She is proficient in teaching and performing aerial silk and aerial rope and has experience instructing students of all levels. She loves expressing the intersection of art and athleticism through aerial arts and has continued to teach, train, and perform in a variety of productions after moving to the beautiful island of Okinawa.

KATIE LYNCH

Instructor: Aerial Rope | Handbalancing

Katie is a full time aerial arts instructor and performer based out of Gig Harbor, WA.

 

Her passion for fitness and people led her to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science Pre-OT with the intention of becoming an Occupational Therapist. After earning her undergrad, she was swept into the world of circus arts and used her skills and education in an entirely different way.

 

Katie founded Ethereal Arts Northwest, an aerial studio in her hometown, in December of 2018.

Coaching and performing has now become her full time occupation and allows her to pursue her passion for aerial while sharing it with her community. She has been coaching circus arts for over 5 years now, and works with students of all ages and abilities. Katie primarily performs corde lisse (rope), hand-balancing, and straps. She is also a proficient performer and instructor in silks and acrobatics.

HANA SAMBE

Instructor: Handbalancing| Partner Acro

Hana is a ground act instructor and performer based in Seattle, WA.

 

She started yoga in 2010 and taught from 2013-2021. From yoga, she gained experience working with different types of bodies, ages, and injuries and enjoyed every session she guided. Through yoga she discovered the wonderful world of inversions, and handstands quickly became her obsession. She entered the world of circus arts as a flyer in partner acrobatics, and has since continued her handbalancing journey.

Hana has been both coaching and performing for several years and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and art with others. What brings her most joy is helping a student unlock a new ability or moment - the momemt of pure exhilaration and accomplishment makes it all worth it!

KELLY HUMBIRD

Adventure Coordinator

Kelly is an aerialist who started training in her 30s. Her main love is aerial rope, but aerial silks are a close second. She began her first few years of training with Katie Lynch at Ethereal Aerial Arts Northwest. After moving to Okinawa, Japan she began training with Ash Lindsey and learning aerial silks.  Her passion for aerial arts and connection with her aerial coaches allowed Skybound Okinawa to come together.

Outside of aerial, Kelly is a dog mom and owns a remote health coaching company. She lives in Okinawa, Japan with her husband and fur baby and is excited to welcome you and share this beautiful island!

THE VILLA

Our retreat villa is nestled on the shores of a pristine beach, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and sunrise just a quick walk away. With semi-private beach access, you'll have plenty of opportunities to swim, sunbathe, and soak up the beauty of your surroundings.

Coed dorm accommodations feature either traditional Japanese-style bed rolls in the tatami mat room or shared double beds.
